David and I married in 1977 and settled in Aiken where he worked at the “bomb” plant. In that time, we both got saved, raised three sons and did a lot in between. Today we are retired, meaning there is no paycheck, but we get to spend our time with grandchildren, garden, chickens, horses and most importantly serving God where He leads us. We work with “A Moment of Hope” which is a non-profit Christian sidewalk counseling and pregnancy care ministry. At Calvary Chapel, we are blessed to serve as co-teachers with the Esselmans in the “Wavewalker” middle school group twice monthly and on the first Sunday of the month, we organize and serve with the Communion team.
David’s favorite bible verse is 1 Corinthians 16:13-14: “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith: quit you like men, and be strong. Let all your things be done in love.”
Jill’s favorite bible verse is Romans 8:28: “And we know all things work together for good to them who love God, to those being called according to His purpose.”
Our family verse is Joshua 24:15: “If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
We can’t deceive ourselves and expect our Good and Just God to bless this sinful nation. It’s time the Church stand by falling on our faces and repenting of what WE, the Church, did not do and how we handled His Great Commission. If we do then God can heal our land.
