Matt Sherrard

Outreach Leader

Matt was born in Toledo, Ohio, grew up in New Jersey, and accepted the Lord Jesus as Savior at the age of 22, while stationed with the US Air Force in Athens, Greece. Matt retired from active duty after 20 years of service in 2001, then was hired right back as an Air Force civilian manager at Fort Gordon, now Fort Eisenhower, GA, and served another 20 years before retiring again in early 2022. Matt joined Calvary Chapel Aiken in 2009, where he met his lovely wife, Faye. Matt and Faye have a big family including 14 beloved grandchildren. Matt serves as outreach leader and is active in the praise team ministry, and also pursues a "spreaching" (singing/preaching) ministry in which he writes songs, sings and preaches, essentially preaching through singing.

Favorite Bible Verses:

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own
understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.
(especially the not leaning on my own understanding part - I often need to be reminded
 of that)

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God,
to those who are the called according to His purpose. (in my mind, related to the Proverb
3:5-6 above. Again, I often need to be reminded)

Hobbies:

Matt's main hobbies are working on his spreaching, spending time with and helping his
kids & grands, and traveling whenever he and Faye can get away!
